App idea Final:

App development

As discussed in an earlier post, our final element we have chosen is an app/ game which is fun to use but also provides info on the event and situation. We chose an app because our target audience is very social media conscious and in touch with technology. The game itself is simple, collecting falling rubbish with a sack but with apps it is often the most simple games that are addictive. We thought this would be a fun, interactive way for people to learn about the event and have fun while doing so. The visual elements of the app are fitting with the rest of our designs to create a consistency that means people will recognise the campaign from the app.  We have kept the app fairly simple as it is being used on a small android screen.

Website development

Today we put the finishing touches on the website.

We wanted to keep our website crisp, fun, vibrant and flirty. We used images we had taken along with icons and information fitting with the brochure but the website will go more in depth. We want it to be easy to use so have used one page where you can either scroll down or click the top buttons to take you to certain sections. We wanted the website to tell the viewer instantly about our event and what we are trying to achieve by the cheeky nature of the text and body copy but also provide useful information on the event itself and the rubbish issue. We wanted the website to visual fit with the rest of the campaign so incorporated the colour scheme, approach to text, overlaying pattern and images. We have added numerous effects to keep the website interactive and interesting to read and scroll through.

We created an instagram because our target market are very familiar with social media and it is often the best way to grab their attention. We wanted the instagram to be fun and playful while also providing information about the event. At this stage it is all photos we have taken with carefully thought captions, young adult lingo and puns to grab attention. If this event was to take place we would also post other peoples photos with similar captions and people could hashtag the instragram and post photos from the event on instagram as a way of sharing their experience which would also generate publicity.

So the instragram was not too bland, along with the photos we chose we created humorous quotes to post that match our colour scheme. These are aimed at both guys and girls and appeals to their sexual nature to try get them excited about the event.

We also created a short informative post so that the instagram provides the info needed.

Here are screenshots of our final instagram before the event, bear in mind it would be an ongoing thing if the event took place and more posts would be added of the actual event. To view all captions and individual photos visit our instagram link.

Poster Final further developments

We continued to experiment with the headlines for our posters, shortening them (please find below). We created 3 posters making sure to appeal to male and females. We also added the pattern also to tie in with our brochure design, find developments below. Need to change the "nice pair of bags you have there" to something different as too similar to second poster and the "pier pressure" one isn't fitting with the image so changed to one relating to a couple- "she wants to know whats in his sack".
We then went to further develop the headlines and added the necessary logo, find below our final posters. They are designed as a set of three but for the purposes of this project we will print the middle poster as we feel it is the most compositionally appealing one with the catchiest header. Have sent both the poster and brochure off to the printer and will collect tomorrow ready for hand in.

Extra element: game/app

We decided for our final element we would experiment with the theme of technology and fun for our target audience of young adults. Because our target age group is very technology focussed, we experimented with creating an app/ game which is simple and provides fun but also encourages them to get involved in the event. The game is simple, a bag collects the falling rubbish and you score points, and if you miss the rubbish and it goes into the ocean then the game is over.

Brochure developments

Today in class we continued to develop the brochure with our new images. Firstly we added our new images then got working on our "lingo" for the text involved in the brochure. Find below our initial text and then an updated copy of refined lingo to suit the mood, be witty and appeal to young adults.

We want our brochure to be fitting with the website and poster but provide more information than the poster, for this reason we have included "Sea Your Junk" on the cover page instead of a tagline to make the brochure seem more informative about the event. Hopefully the target audience would have already seen the posters and would look for the brochure for more information. Since our target audience is young adults, we want the info to be easy and fun to read with puns and witt. We will include some environmental info yet our major focus is getting them excited for the event and make the event seem appealing with the environment benefits be something they can learn while having fun.

Find our brochure so far below, still needs more refining:

Logo development

Yesterday we developed our final hand written logo. We wanted a hand written logo with a fun be achy feel that would suit our brief and target audience. After trying the logo in different forms we decided on a simple watercolour logo in white that will be a contrast to our crisp bold elements and photographic approach. We feel the final logo is fun and flirty and conveys ideas of the beach and rubbish.

Website initial development

Here is the initial plan/layout for our website. We want it to be an easy to use website that is visually appealing and fun for our target audience. We want all the info to be on one page in which you scroll down as we think this works best visually. Some features we plan to include is the "lowdown", a feed from our Instagram photos, details about the event itself and information on the environmental issue. We want it to be informative about the event and issues yet still fun and flirty relating to our other designs. Our header will shift from boy to girl, similar to the posters we used to tie the campaign together and provide similarity in the colour scheme. Overall we are aiming for a crisp, fun and visually dynamic website which is easy to access and easy to use so that people can clearly understand what we are about and our event.

Week 11: Session 2 (photoshoot images in dropbox link)

Today in class we sorted and edited our taken images.
Find dropbox link here of all images taken yesterday: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/6mfng0t8qjf99t8/AACRAzUrGVf3qOL9RWeDqhNba?dl=0

We are really happy with how the images have turned out we feel they are flirty and fun to appeal to youth yet aren't too offending like some of our example images. The bags worked perfectly and we feel will work with our previous sayings we have come up with. We will edit the photos over the next few days to be ready for our final designs to come together.

Week 11: Session 1 (photoshoot planning and ideation)

Today in class we planned our photoshoot which will take place this afternoon as it is perfect weather. The models, Amelia and ben are busy so we have 2 other guy friends (Garth and Rhidian) who are willing, and a female model (Margeoux). I (Laura) will also get in photos when necessary. Models will be posing with black rubbish bags.
